Statesboro man arrested after car chase on Seaborn Proctor Road

A car chase led to the arrest of a wanted Statesboro man, Kenneth Smith Jr. after he attempted to flee from Bulloch County Sheriff officers on Seaborn Proctor Road on Thursday, July 3rd.

Investigators with the Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team observed Kenneth Smith Jr., age 28 when he was driving in the area of Lanier Drive and Langston Chapel Road.

Smith was wanted for the sale of cocaine, when officers attempted to stop him he fled in his vehicle until he came to a halt at a felony traffic stop.

Smith refused to obey verbal commands and fought with several deputies and investigators before being subdued by using a taser.

Several of the deputies and investigators involved suffered minor cuts and scrapes.

Smith was charged with sale of cocaine, felony obstruction of law enforcement, simple battery on law enforcement officer, fleeing and attempting to elude, and driving without a license.

Kenneth Smith Jr. remains at the Bulloch County jail with no bond.
