Man believed responsible for Madison bank robbery captured in Arkansas

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Loan Ranger Bandit has been arrested by Arkansas State Troopers, and is facing multiple charges. He is believed responsible for the October 2012 robbery of a Bancorp South branch in Madison.

He was arrested on July 1, 2014, after he had just robbed the Summit Bank in Benton, Arkansas. The so-called bandit has been identified as Richard Swicegood, 37 years of age, from Waxahachie, Texas. FBI officials have confirmed that he is responsible for numerous bank robberies in multiple states.

 On Friday morning, October 26, 2012, he held up two tellers with a small semi automatic handgun then fled into a nearby wooded area with an undetermined amount of money.

Swicegood is believed to have committed robberies in Louisville, Kentucky, Madison, Mississippi, as well as Texas cities Tyler, Wichita Falls, Temple, Round Rock, Salado, and College Station.

    Marine officials were out in Long Beach Saturday morning after discovering two dead baby dolphins on the beach there. A third baby dolphin was found dead on Ship Island on Friday.
