NEW ORLEANS (WAFB/AP) -
An arbitrator ruled Wednesday that New Orleans Saints player Jimmy Graham is a tight end and not a wide receiver.
The ruling means the team can now franchise tag Graham as a tight end at $7 million. The franchise tag, which allow teams to keep one prized free agent, as a wide receiver would have been $12.3 million.
Graham filed the grievance because he believes he often lines up as a wide receiver and should be paid as such. Graham, agent Jimmy Sexton and the NFL Players Association can appeal the decision.
Graham has skipped Saints offseason practices while holding out for a new contract.
