City owned home catches fire overnight

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

According to Biloxi Spokesperson Vincent Creel a historic structure caught fire around 3:00 am Wednesday morning.

A police officer driving by noticed flames coming from the roof of a vacant home off Porter Avenue.

Fire crews were immediately called out to the scene, and were able to get the blaze under control.

The home did sustain significant damage.

No injuries were reported.

The home was owned by the city, and officials had plans to use it as a community meeting place.
