Mountain Brook PD identifies Whole Foods robbery suspect

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL (WBRC) -

Mountain Brook Police have charged Jamel Nathan Thomas, 20, of Brighton with first degree robbery after allegedly hitting a woman and stealing her purse in the Whole Foods parking lot.

The incident happened June 23 when two women were putting groceries in their car. Police allege that Thomas hit one of the women in the face, knocked her to the ground and ran off with her purse.

A Mountain Brook officer was in the area and was able to apprehend Thomas.

The victim's purse was found June 24 in the woods by officers who went back to the scene.

The victim was taken to the hospital for injuries to her face and arm.
