A Jones County deputy was injured Friday evening while trying to make an arrest during a family disturbance.
Around 6:30 deputies were called to a home on Red Hill Crossing in the Red Hill community. Upon arrival they were told by a woman family member that Adam Mills, 22 had been dropped of at the residence naked and was high on something. The relative told deputies that Mills was being threatening to the family both verbally and with a knife.
Deputies entered the home and found Mills in a back bedroom still naked. They told him to put his clothes on and they say he refused to saying there were snakes in them. They were finally able to convince him to put on pajamas. When they tried to cuff him he became violent and combative. During the altercation Deputy Jody White suffered a broken leg.
"We now know that Deputy White is going to require surgery on his leg," said Sheriff Alex Hodge. "Looks like a broken fibula right there at the knee. It's pretty serious fracture that requires immediate surgery in the morning."
Mills is charged with assault on a police officer, disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest. If convicted he could face up to 30-years in prison.
Mills was scheduled to make first appearance in court Monday afternoon.
