JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

25-year-old Justin D. Hurst and 27-year-old Audrey Lashay Tillman, both of Jackson, appeared in court today for a detention hearing.

The couple was arrested and appeared in federal court earlier this week, when they were charged with recruiting, enticing, transporting, providing and maintaining female children under the age of 18 to engage in commercial sex acts.

The Judge bound both defendants over to await action of the Grand Jury and detained both defendants without bond.

Both Hurst and Tillman were held without bond pending the outcome of today's court appearance.

At the time of the offense, the Defendant Hurst was on MDOC Probation for a firearm offense and was also on bond for a Murder charge in Hinds County.

On June 19, 2014, the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force conducted an undercover operation in support of a nationwide enforcement initiative called "Operation Cross Country VIII."

It aimed to deter child exploitation throughout the United States.

As a part of the operation, undercover officers responded to an internet ad on a site known to law enforcement to be used for prostitution.

As a result, a 15 year old girl and a 17 year old girl, both victims of child sex trafficking, were rescued by law enforcement when they were taken to a Ridgeland, Mississippi hotel.
