This week voters in Mississippi reversed a trend. That trend is voter apathy, when it comes to going to the polls twice over a three week period.
Typically, fewer people make the effort to go to the polls for a second time for a runoff vote. But this week more people cast ballots in the United States Senate Republican Primary Runoff between Thad Cochran and Chris McDaniel then in the GOP Primary.
We are glad to see increased voter interest and concern for the future of this community, state and nation. Of course the turnout could have been better and we encourage all of you who did not vote to be sure you are registered and vote in the next election whether for a city or county office or for national office.
As we approach the nation's anniversary of our independence, July 4th. We hope we always cherish our right to vote.
