JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Doug Magee of Mendenhall defeated Dennis Quinn of Magnolia Tuesday in the Democrat runoff in the 3rd Congressional District.

Magee will take on incumbent Republican Gregg Harper of Pearl, independent Roger Gerrard and Reform Party candidate Barbara Dale Washer on Nov. 4.

With 99 percent of precincts reporting, Magee was leading with 52 percent of the vote to Quinn's 48 percent.

Magee is a 72-year-old semi-retired lawyer who led the June 3 primary. Quinn is a 65-year-old former Magnolia alderman.

The district crosses 24 counties from Starkville southwest through the Jackson area and Natchez.
