SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) -

Precinct managers from around Harrison County spent the day before Mississippi's historic Republican Senate runoff at the Election Commission picking up ballots and election supplies for Tuesday's GOP runoff.

The Democratic and Republican Executive Committees in each county are responsible for making sure everything is correct for primary elections. That includes Tuesday's GOP runoff in the U.S. Senate race.

On June 3, a mistake was made by the Republican Party in Harrison County. Some ballots were mistakenly sent to the wrong voting places.

The voting machines rejected those ballots, and they had to be hand counted the following day at the circuit clerk's office. The Executive Committee went to great lengths to make sure that error is not repeated in the runoff.

"These boxes were looked over by four experts this time. We have plenty of oversight to make sure that doesn't happen again," said Pete Wilson, with the Harrison County Republican Executive Committee.

Remember, if you voted in the Republican primary on June 3, or didn't vote at all, you can vote in Tuesday's runoff. If you voted in the Democratic primary you cannot vote.

Polls open at 7 a.m. and will remain open until 7 p.m.
