PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) -

Two people are under arrest in connection with the human remains found along Bell Creek Road in Pass Christian late Friday night. Maj. Ron Pullen, with the Harrison County Sheriff's Department, said investigators found the remains around 11 p.m. in the 1600 block of Bell Creek Road.

Pullen said Stephen Hagin, 26, and his girlfriend, 23-year-old Amber Slocum, were charged early Saturday morning. Pullen said Hagin is charged with capital murder and Slocum is charged with accessory after the fact.

Officials say they believe they know who the victim is, but they are waiting to make a positive ID before releasing the name. The person they suspect is the victim was a missing person's case dating back to June 6.

Authorities said the remains were badly decomposed, so dental records and X-rays are being used to determine a positive ID. Pullen said they don't expect to get results back until Wednesday.

The suspected victim has been in the Mississippi Department of Corrections system, so authorities have records to compare the remains to.
