EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

One East Texas family was told their pregnant dog was to have eight babies. But they never expected when she went into labor that the pups would keep coming... and coming.

Monclair Brady, a mastiff, had 17 puppies. She spent 22 hours in labor and is now the proud mom of 12 girls and 5 boys.

The world record for largest litter is 24, so she came a few short, but the state record was 16, so Monclair Brady has earned the title of Texas record holder for largest litter.

This is her second litter and her owner said it will be her last. All the puppies will be sold online and on sites like Craigslist.
