Sheriff: Still no charges in St. Martin shooting

ST. MARTIN, MS (WLOX) -

Jackson County authorities have identified the two people involved in a shooting at a St. Martin home last week. Menatha Antionetta Stallworth, 36, and Antione Howard Johnson, 34, were wounded at their home on Esplanade Road in St. Martin.

Sheriff Charles Britt said it appears the June 10 shooting started with a domestic dispute. He said the investigation is still ongoing, and at this time neither of the people involved have been charged with a crime.

Britt said the gun used in the shooting was recovered, and investigators are confident no one else was involved.

    A news release from Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson says a deputy shot and killed an armed suspect on Lake Vista Drive. According to the sheriff, deputies went to the neighborhood off Canal Road at 5:58 Monday night. They reportedly went there for a follow-up call involving a stolen car case from earlier that day.  "A deputy discharged his weapon and the suspect was transported from the scene to a local area hospital" where he later died, the sheriff said.
