Teens led officers on high-speed chase in Hancock Co.

HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The Mississippi Highway Patrol and Hancock County Sheriff's deputies were led on a high speed chase by juveniles Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say the chase started at a gas station near I-10 on Highway 603. Sheriff's officials said the 16-year-old male and female suspects led them north on 603 at speeds exceeding 100 miles an hour.

The chase ended on Highway 43 in the Leetown community when the teens ran off the road and flipped their car. Both were taken to the hospital, but the extent of their injuries was not known. Those on the scene said both were conscious.

Chief Investigator Glenn Grannan said deputies had been searching for the girl for the past few days. They believe she's a runaway.

The teens' names will not be released, due to their ages.
