KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) - Some people will do anything for a case of beer.

Or three.

Kingsport Police are searching for a man who robbed a convenience store twice on the same day and almost ran over the store clerk trying to get away from the crime scene.

It happened April 6th around 5:30 p.m. at the Roadrunner Market, 1104 South Wilcox Drive in Kingsport.

A man described by police as a "very large black male" stole a case of beer without being noticed.

Apparently, one case wasn't enough.

Police said around 8:10 p.m., the same man returned to the store and stole two cases of beer.

But this time, things didn't go quite so smoothly.

"This time, the clerk actually did pick up on what was going on and followed the suspect into the parking lot," said Tom Patton, Kingsport Public Information Officer.  "The suspect got into the parking lot with the beer, put his car into reverse, and backed into the clerk.  Fortunately the clerk was not injured in the incident however we are still trying to identify the suspect."

Police want to find the suspect and charge him with multiple counts of shoplifting and aggravated assault.

If you recognize the suspect, call Kingsport Police at 246-9111.
