SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) -

We have some good news for South Mississippi shrimp lovers. The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources announced on Tuesday that the 2014-2015 shrimping season for Mississippi territorial waters will open at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18.

MDMR says the season for recreational and commercial shrimping will end at midnight on December 31, 2014, north of the Intracoastal Waterway and midnight on April 30, 2015, south of the Intracoastal Waterway. Officials said all MDMR ordinances will be in full effect, and all boats catching or transporting shrimp in Mississippi waters must be licensed and permitted by MDMR.

For more information, you can call the Mississippi Shrimp Hotline at 866-938-7295 or MDMR at 228-374-5000.
