Miscommunication sends Keesler AFB into temporary lockdown

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Keesler Air Force Base temporarily went into lockdown on Wednesday morning after there was a miscommunication during an on-base exercise, according to officials. Keesler officials said the base was placed on lockdown after the Force Protection Condition was raised to Delta.

"The threat was perceived to be a real-world incident and our first responders acted accordingly," said Brig. Gen. Patrick Higby, Commander of the 81st Training Wing.

Base officials said the lockdown was lifted and the base resumed normal operations after it was confirmed there was no threat.
