POPLARVILLE, MS (WLOX) - Officials say a man charged with murder in Poplarville was riding motorcycles with the victim before he reportedly stabbed him to death. Mississippi Department of Public Safety Public Affairs Director Warren Strain said the victim and the suspect were acquaintances.
The suspect has been identified as Frank Aubrey Knight, of Lena, LA. Strain said Knight is being held on a $3 million bond for murder.
The victim, 42-year-old Shannon Lee, was found near mile marker 29 on Interstate 59 on Monday night around 10:40 p.m., according to Pearl River County Deputy Coroner Albert Lee.
Albert said Shannon died from stab wounds and was pronounced dead shortly after emergency crews responded.
Many people have been reaching out on Facebook mourning the death of Shannon Lee, who was known by family and friends as "Wolf." Albert said Shannon lived in Pearl River, LA, but also had a Picayune address.
Poplarville Police Chief Charlie Fazende said it was a very bloody scene.
