SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) -

Chris Schmidt announced his candidacy for the November 4, Circuit Court Judge Place 2 election on Monday. Schmidt is a former Harrison County Deputy Sheriff and served as Assistant District Attorney in District 2. He has practiced civil law since 2010.

"As someone who lives, works and raises a family on the Gulf Coast, I believe that our community deserves a strong and ethical Circuit Judge who will rule on cases in a fair and impartial manner," said Schmidt. "There's no more sacred of a right that we have as Americans are given than the right to a fair trial."

Schmidt graduated with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from USM in 1992, and received his law degree from the University of Mississippi Law School in 1995.

"I look forward to sharing my credentials during the coming months and why I feel me experiences, both personally and as an attorney for the last 19 years, positions me as the best candidate for this job," said Schmidt.
