Two recovering from overnight shooting in St. Martin

ST. MARTIN, MS (WLOX) -

Officials with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department tell WLOX News two people are recovering after being shot during an apparent domestic dispute in the St. Martin community. Sheriff Charles Britt said deputies responded to a shooting at 2501 Esplanade Street at around 2 a.m. on Tuesday.

Britt said when deputies arrived on the scene they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. Officials believe the shooting started as a domestic dispute before turning violent.

Britt said both victims were transported to the Ocean Springs Emergency Room, and one had to be air lifted to USA Medical Center in Mobile, AL. The condition of both victims is unknown at this time.

Britt said the gun used in the shooting has been recovered, and his department is confident they have identified and accounted for all individuals involved. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
