Harrison County teen drowns in Mississippi Sound

PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) -

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove confirms to WLOX News that a Harrison County teen drowned in the Mississippi Sound on Sunday. Hargrove said emergency crews responded to the call of a possible drowning near the Pass Christian Harbor at around 3:30 p.m.

Hargrove said by the time emergency crews reached the scene bystanders had already pulled 19-year-old Tony Nations, of Saucier, out of the water.

Officials said Nations had been spending a day at the beach with his family when he got into some trouble while swimming in the water. Authorities said it is not clear what exactly happened to Nations.

Hargrove said Nations was transported to Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:08 a.m. on Monday.
