New partnership between Beau Rivage, Sun Country takes off

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Beau Rivage has a new partnership with Sun Country Airlines. Sunday, the airline started providing charter flights for the resort's preferred players. 

Troy Dickbernd is the Director of National Marketing for Beau Rivage and said they're very excited about the new partnership.

"We really enjoy being able to provide this service. It helps bring tourism to the local Gulf Coast where people are spending money in restaurants, retail outlets, and those types of things," said Dickbernd.     

The Biloxi casino resort has offered free air service to their preferred customers for years through Vision Airlines, but just days ago that seven year contract ended. Now they have a three year contract with Sun Country.  

"We want to provide the Sun Country service to the Beau Rivage customers. And as our customer, we want to make sure that their folks are taken care of in the best way possible," said Eric Curry, Vice President of Sales and Customer Service for Sun Country.     

Beau Rivage will now be offering nonstop jet service five days a week from the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport, as well as monthly service to the Mississippi Gulf Coast from more than 60 other United States destinations. Through the air program, Beau Rivage expects to serve 6,000-7,000 people per month, or about 80,000 people annually

"We're operating about 50 to 60 flights per month with Sun Country. They have a lot of experience operating programs like this, both on the charter side and also with the scheduled commercial side of things," said Dickbernd.     

According to the Vice President of Sun Country, the airline is not yet offering commercial flights from the Gulfport-Biloxi airport, but it is something they plan to look into in the near future.

In 2013, the Beau Rivage air program coordinated 656 flights and transported more than 81,000 air passengers, making it among Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport's largest carriers.
