BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Beau Rivage is partnering with Sun Country Airlines to offer nonstop jet service five days a week from St. Petersburg, Florida to the Gulfport/Biloxi International Airport.
"In addition to bringing new and return visitors to MGM's beautiful 1,740-room resort, the air program benefits the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast as visitors dine in area restaurants, play golf, visit tourism attractions and enjoy deep-sea fishing and other outdoor activities," said George Corchis, MGM Resorts International's President and COO of Southern Operations.
The service begins Sunday, June 8 and will typically operate Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Packages include roundtrip airfare, deluxe accommodations for two or three nights and round-trip ground transportation between the airport and Beau Rivage.
"We are pleased to develop this new relationship with MGM Resorts International and offer the only nonstop service out of St. Pete-Clearwater to the Mississippi Gulf Coast," said John Fredericksen, president and CEO of Sun Country Airlines. "Gulfport/Biloxi will be available to more than 60 U.S. cities, featuring affordable fares and award-winning service every step of the way. We are confident that Beau Rivage customers will be pleased with the level of service and reliability our airline will provide."
MGM's efforts to "import" tourism to the Mississippi Gulf Coast goes back to 2008 when Corchis established a comprehensive air program via leased 737 aircraft. Beau Rivage flies in thousands of guests every year on charter flights from around the country and in 2013, the air program coordinated 656 flights and transported more than 81,000 air passengers, making it among Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport's largest carriers.
