Potential presidential candidate stops in Jackson

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Neurosurgeon and potential presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson made a stop in Jackson Thursday to sign copies of his new book, at Lemuria.

He dismissed questions about a presidential run as a rumor, but said the country needs to go in a different direction.

He also had a few words about the nation's current political climate.

"I've noticed that I never want to be a politician, that's for sure," said Dr. Carson. "You know, I want to do things that make sense, things that are logical. What we have right now are people who just go around and stir up strife in order to maintain their positions.

The National Draft Ben Carson for President Committee has already raised over $4 million and garnered more than 200,000 signatures in support of Dr. Carson for president.
