HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The count is on at the Harrison County Courthouse where the Resolution Board is counting the ballots from 13 precincts in Gulfport and Long Beach where some ballots coded for one precinct were being used at other precincts election day. Tuesday, voting machines would not accept the ballots that did not match the machine.
After being sworn in, the Resolution Board members began recording the votes from the wrong ballots to the correct ballots. Once that is complete, they will then be counted.
All this is being done under the watchful eyes of representatives from the leading GOP candidates' campaigns in the 4th District Congressional Race. These results could impact the outcome of that election and Mississippi's U.S. Senate Race.
Also being counted are the affidavit votes.
We are told once the count is complete, the Harrison County Republican Executive Committee will then certify the results. There's no word on how long that count will take, but WLOX reporter Trang Pham-Bui is there and will have the results for you when they happen on WLOX News and WLOX.com.
