Gautier City Council votes 4-3 in favor of limited smoking ban

GAUTIER, MS (WLOX) -

Gautier Mayor Gordon Gollott tells WLOX News the Gautier City Council passed a city-wide limited smoking ordinance by a vote of 4-3 on Tuesday.

Gollott said private clubs are exempt from the smoking ban, and restaurants can have an outside smoking area but it must be at least 10 feet away from any entrances. All other public buildings will be smoke free.

Of the 566 Gautier residents that weighed in on an online poll, 49 percent voted in favor of the smoking ban. At a public hearing, 11 out 18 people voted to pass a smoking ordinance.
