Richard Rose officially out as Diamondhead City Manager

Posted: Updated:
DIAMONDHEAD, MS (WLOX) -

Richard Rose is officially out as City Manager of Diamondhead. The former city manager was fired by the city council on Tuesday night.

Back in April, the council voted to terminate Rose, pending a public hearing, citing a number of problems.

Council member at large Ernie Knobloch told WLOX News Rose did not attend Tuesday's public hearing that Rose requested. Rose's attorney advised him not to attend the meeting because simply adding Rose's name to the city council's agenda was not a proper hearing under state law.

Rose wanted a hearing to respond to the allegations city leaders have launched against him and call witnesses to the stand to help to clear his name.

During Tuesday's public hearing, city leaders expanded the list of grievances against Rose.

Knobloch said the city is no longer accepting applications for the position of city manager and they are now in the process of selecting the new one.
