This Friday is the 70th anniversary D-Day, June 6th 1944.On that day 150,000 allied troops landed in Normandy France. The huge invasion would lead to the fall of the Axis powers and the tyranny of Adolf Hitler.
There were 10,000 Allied casualties on D-Day. Four thousand of those died.
I hope we never forget the sacrifices of those who fought on D-Day and all the campaigns of World War II. Today only about a million of the 16 million Americans who served in World War II are still alive.
If you are fortunate enough to know someone who served in World War II, please take a moment to reflect on how important they were in shaping the future of our country and protecting our freedom; and thank them for their service to this nation.
