GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - A Gulfport woman is facing one charge of battery of a child after she allegedly cut a child with a knife. Gulfport Police Chief Leonard Papania said officers arrested Janell Lakisha Barry, 32, on Monday.
Papania said police were called to Bayou View Apartments on Jody Nelson Drive where they found that Barry had been involved in a domestic altercation with her boyfriend.
Papania said during the fight, Barry grabbed a knife and started swinging wildly at the man. Officials said while she was brandishing the knife, Barry cut the child in the eye area.
Authorities said the child was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Barry is being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility on a $50,000 bond.
