Moss Point police working to track down stolen weapons

MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) - Moss Point police along with ATF agents remain on the hunt for several high value guns stolen from a Moss Point home.

"I'm not going to give a number, but I will say it's a lot and it's certainly a lot more than we are comfortable with,"  said ATF Resident in Charge Joel Lee. "At some point tomorrow, with all of our law enforcement partners, we are going to come together and ask for the public's help in trying to find these weapons."

ATF agents say the man whose home was burglarized is a federal firearms licensee, which means he is allowed to sell guns as a business.

Some of the stolen guns were found at a home on West Park Drive in Gautier. Moss Point police, ATF agents and the Biloxi SWAT team went into the home on Thursday night to get the weapons.

Investigators say there are eight suspects at this point, and some of them are already in custody.

"We have a wide open, broad investigation so we certainly are not ruling out gang activity in this case," said Lee. "Street gangs, they are certainly always in the market for stolen firearms either buying or selling stolen firearms. That's a trademark of most street gangs."

If you have any information about the stolen guns, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898.
