Officials release name of inmate killed in Wilkinson County

The inmate killed in a disturbance at the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility, in Woodville, has been identified as 33-year-old Kendrick Walker. Walker was sentenced on drug charges and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The MDOC website listed Walker's tentative release date as May 12, 2015.

A statement released by Management and Training Corporation, the company that operates the facility, said he was killed Sunday during a fight in one of the housing units.

The statement says six inmates were involved in the fight. Kendrick was killed and the five others suffered non life-threatening injuries.

The statement went on to say the fight doesn't appear to be gang-related.

The incident is under investigation by the Wilkinson County Sheriff's Office and prison authorities.
