LONG BEACH, MS (WLOX) - Summer weather is upon us, and for some people that means a great chance to get fresh produce and locally made goods from farmers markets. Some markets pop up when the weather gets warmer, but the Long Beach Farmers Market is open year round.
On Saturday, there were 15 vendors on site selling everything from homemade soap to organic meat products. For many of the returning customers, the attraction is getting to know the producers of the food they purchase.
"I've been doing this for the past two or three years, and you can get to know each other on a first name basis," said Long Beach Farmers Market customer Kathy Weil. "We've kind of got a family feeling here, you know? Everybody is very social."
The market in Long Beach is open from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday, rain or shine, on Jeff Davis Avenue.
