Volunteers honor fallen heroes at Biloxi National Cemetery

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Volunteers worked to honor our nation's heroes on Saturday morning to kick off this Memorial Day Weekend. More than 1,000 volunteers filled the Biloxi National Cemetery to place American flags at each gravestone.

This tradition has been taking place for over 20 years, but now there are more than 18,000 graves throughout the cemetery.

The flags will stay up through the Memorial Day Weekend, and the Memorial Committee is asking for volunteers to help pick them up on Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m.
