SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - Three busy sections of the beach in Harrison County are now clear for beachgoers, and just in time for the big holiday weekend.
Thursday, the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality's Beach Monitoring Program lifted three water contact advisories for the following locations:
-Station 10B-East Courthouse Road Beach from Courthouse Road east to Tegarden Road
-Station 11A-Edgewater Beach from Debuys Road to Edgewater
-Station 12A-Biloxi West Central Beach from Travia Avenue to Iberville Drive
MDEQ officials said water samples at those stations show the areas have attained acceptable bacteria levels.
The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which performs water sampling of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ, notifies the agency when an area returns to acceptable levels and safe conditions.
