Wilkes drawbridge reopens after 10 hour closure

Posted: Updated:
GULFPORT, MS -

After being closed for more than 10 hours on Wednesday, the Wilkes drawbridge on Cowan Road in Gulfport is finally reopened.

The bridge remained in an up position starting early Wednesday morning as repair crews worked to restore a hydraulic pump with an electrical contact.

Officials tell us the bridge has been repaired and traffic has resumed crossing the bridge.
