Southern Miss is hosting the C-USA baseball tournament beginning Wednesday

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - For the fourth time in its history Southern Miss is the site of the Conference USA Baseball Championship.

The Golden Eagles previously hosted the event in 1996, 2005 and the 2009 tournament. Southern Miss is 7-5 in C-USA Tournament games played in Hattiesburg.

Southern Miss enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed and the 19th overall trip to the league's postseason tournament.

The Golden Eagles fly into the tournament having won four of its last five games and 11 of its last 17.  Southern Miss has 13 consecutive winning seasons.

In the last meeting against East Carolina (32-24, 16-14), Mason Robbins of Lucedale drove in a pair of runs and Connor Barron scored three times to lead Southern Miss (32-23, 19-11) to a 6-4 win over the Pirates at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.

The Golden Eagles will send Christian Talley (Jr. 4-4, 2.44 ERA) on the mound while the Pirates will go with Reid Love (Jr., 5-3, 2.55 ERA).

Old Dominion and Middle Tennessee open the tournament Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by FIU and Rice at 12:30.  UTSA faces USA at 4:00 p.m. and the Pirates-Golden Eagles match up is set for 7:30.
