Man arrested in Northampton on attempted murder charge

NORTHAMPTON, MA (WSHM) -

Police arrested a man Saturday night after they said he stabbed a woman with a pair of scissors.

He is now facing an attempted murder charge.

CBS 3 media partner Mass Live and The Republican reported the incident happened at a peer-run respite on Jackson Street.

Darreus Lisenby, 22, is accused of stabbing and punching the woman several times during the attack.

She is expected to be OK.

Police said Lisenby fled the scene after the alleged incident, but they caught up with and arrested him on King Street.

Lisenby will be arraigned in Northampton District Court on Monday.
