YAZOO COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Officials have located the body of the 47-year-old man who jumped into the Yazoo River on Saturday.

Chief Investigator Tommy Irvine said, "He was located about 100 yards down from where he was spotted last night."

Irvine said although search and rescue spotted the man's body last night, officials could not recover him from the water.

Major Tillman Clifton with the Yazoo City Police Department identified the man as Billy Wayne Robinson.

Robinson went missing in the water sometime after 5 p.m. Saturday evening according to Yazoo County officials.

Irvine said Robinson's body was located around 12:25 p.m. Sunday.

On Saturday Major Clifton told us family members said the incident started out as a camping trip.

Clifton said family told him Robinson went into the water for a swim and a strong current took him under.

Clifton also said family told him Robinson had consumed alcohol.

Sean Singleton, a witness at the scene, said "I seen people asking for help and when I came up they said that their father had went into the water and had been gone for 5-10- minutes and he was a quarter of the way, half across the river and something took him down and he came up again and went back down and never came up."

Irvine said several agencies were on the scene Sunday, including Madison County and Ridgeland search and rescue, the Red Cross and MEMA.

Robinson's body is now at the state crime lab to determine an exact cause of death.
