(WMC) - He was dressed as a sheriff, and he played the role of a sheriff. But, stumbling on the arrest of an accused killed was the last thing David Kaplan Kallaway was expecting to see.

Especially while filming a movie about murder.

Kallaway, who grew up in Memphis, was in Yalobusha County, Miss. for the filming of a new movie called "Forced Move." On his last day of filming, still dressed for the part, Kallaway hopped in with a Yalobusha County sheriff's deputy, who had been helping block traffic for the production crew.

"I had on my duty belt, with real cuffs, and a prop gun and prop mase," said Kallaway.

As the two drove through the small town of Water Valley, a call came over the deputy's police scanner. It was then that a big-screen drama played out right in front of him.

Kallaway remembers hearing the dispatcher ask for deputies to assist a nearby officer. Someone had just spotted a car missing from a Southaven murder scene.

"I just thought it was a simple one location to the next drive, the next thing I know there's a capital murder suspect up against the car," Kallaway recalled.

Shortly after the incident, Kallaway learned he witnessed deputies arrest murder suspect Karl Walls, who is charged with capital murder and armed robbery in the death of 72-year-old Johnny Moore.

"I never thought I would be anywhere close to something like that," he said.

When Kallaway returns to Los Angeles, where he lives now, he knows he will have quite the story to share about a role he will never forget.

"I don't know if you'd call it the right place at the right time, or the wrong place," he added.

Walls case will go before a grand jury. He remains in jail on a $1 million bond.

The movie "Forced Move" will be finished by the end of the year.
