ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

She's only 5 years old, but Jaylee Monteith is really good with directions, and knows what to do.

"With me, she's marvelous," said Mildred Morris, Jaylee's babysitter. "I've never had any problems whatsoever with her. She listens well."

One of the lessons that Jaylee has learned, and has listened to, is that if there's an emergency, she needs to call 911. Friday afternoon, she did exactly that.

In a 911 call released to FOX Carolina, Jaylee can be heard telling dispatchers that her babysitter, Morris, had fallen down the stairs, and also telling dispatchers that Morris was outside.

Morris, along with Jaylee and another child, had gone to a downstairs basement to get some clothes. But as Morris got back up the stairs, she lost her balance and fell nine steps and was knocked unconscious, bleeding from the head.

Jaylee was understandably nervous when FOX Carolina talked to her Wednesday afternoon, and nodded yes when she was asked if she was concerned about Morris after she fell.

Jaylee's parents said this reinforces everything she has been taught.

"I was thrilled that my daughter knew what to do," said father Jacob Monteith. "Just the fact that she listened and paid attention to what we've taught her to do, if something happens, how to call 911."

Morris said she was bleeding from the head after the fall and was knocked unconscious. She believes Jaylee's actions led to a quick response by rescue crews and saved her life.

"I'm indebted to (her)," said Morris.

Morris said she is not back to 100 percent quite yet, but she hopes to get the all clear from her doctors next week. And Jaylee's parents said there is not anyone else they would rather have as a babysitter.
