A Diboll Lumberjack has done what many kids dream of doing, but few actually live out
Lexxus Hamilton signed today to play college basketball. Hamilton decided she will take her talents to Jarvis College.
She had quite a successful high school career at Diboll, where she was a 4-year starter for the Ladyjacks. Her freshmen year she was awarded Newcomer of the Year. Her senior year she was awarded Defensive Player of the Year, and earned All-District awards along the way.
Her high school coach says it's Hamilton's versatility that makes her a great player.
"She'll definitely be successful. She's going to work hard. Lexxus is great on defense. You don't have a lot of players that can defend the best player, but then also want to take the last shot," said Laura Jones, head basketball coach for the Ladyjacks. "She was that person for us. She could play defense, she could score, she can run, she can do everything. She's a really good player all around."
"It means a lot signing. A lot of people didn't think I was going to make it, but I did. It's a big accomplishment," said Hamilton. "I'm kind of speechless and there's not much to say. I don't think it's sunk in yet, but when it does, I'll be real excited."
Hamilton says she plans on studying business and administration while attending and playing for Jarvis College.
