Harrison Central and St. Patrick travel to Ridgeland Friday in Fast Pitch State Finals

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The Harrison Central Red Rebelettes have  built a winning tradition in fast pitch softball, thanks to the coaching talents of Jimmy Parker.  His Red Rebelettes won-it-all in 2002.

Monday night the Red Rebelettes (28-5) captured the Class 6A South State Championship sweeping St. Martin, posting a 3-1 victory behind the pitching of Madison Burge. She gave up two hits and struck out nine Lady Jackets.

Harrison Central and Madison Central open the Class 6A best-of-three state championship series Friday night at 7:30 in Ridgeland.

St. Patrick beat Choctaw Central 9 to 1 Monday, taking two straight from the Lady Warriors to claim the Class 3A South State Championship.

Sabrina Turner got the job done for the two-time defending state champion Lady Irish. Head CoachTommy Castanedo says Sabrina has something special, posting 21 victories in 24 games.

"She's a competitor. There's no one on the coast or in the state that competes more then she does,"stated Castanedo. "She has a great curve ball, screw ball and change. We work those pitches a whole lot. We very rarely throw a fast ball. All her pitches move and I think that's what makes her very successful."

The Lady Irish (26-3) battle Nettleton Friday night at 6:00 at Ridgeland looking for a three peat in the Class 3A State Fast Pitch finals.
