SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club got a big boost on Wednesday.

A number of community partners donated over $200,000 in grants and donations to the center.

"We're really truly grateful for the donations and the opportunity to give this wonderful program in this beautiful building and without the community and the support we wouldn't be able to do it," said Paige Smith, of the Club.

The money will help the program stay afloat by providing free after school and summer programs.

Today's news was good news but the organization still needs $300,000 to continue to support the free programs.

Looking to donate? Here are some ways you can help the Shreveport Boys & Girls Club raise the rest of the money they need:

On May 17, there will be a color run around the Independence Stadium & Louisiana State Fair Grounds. $40 will be raised for each person that registers to volunteer. Those interested in volunteering can call  (318) 424-3200.

You can send a tax-deductible donation to The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club:

200 E. Stoner Avenue
Shreveport, LA 71104

You can also donate your time by becoming a literacy/homework tutor, a coach/referee, a chaperone or an instructor.

Donations of supplies for the various programs the Club offers are also accepted.
