WIGGINS, MS (WLOX) -

A shoplifting suspect armed with a few raw steaks ended up being tased by a Wiggins police officer Tuesday.

Wiggins Police Chief Matt Barnett said it all started around 11am at the Piggly Wiggly on West Central Avenue. Investigators said an employee saw Jai Kawana Buckhalter trying to leave the store with two packs of steaks for which he hadn't paid. Buckhalter tried to hit the employee with the steaks as he ran out the store and made his getaway.

The police were called, and ended up chasing the suspect on foot. The chief said Buckhalter threw a pack of steaks at the officer, who was able to deflect the flying steak and tase the suspect.

Police tell WLOX News the steaks were returned to the store and Buckhalter was taken to jail.
