Former JPD officer gets 25 months for bribery

Former Jackson Police Officer Tony Davis, of Clinton, was sentenced to 25 months in federal prison for bribery Tuesday. He was also ordered to pay a $5,000.00 fine.

Davis pled guilty to the bribery charge in December, 2013, admitting that, while employed as a Patrol Sergeant with the Jackson Police Department in 2010, he offered to pay another Jackson Police Officer $10,000 if he would assist him in disposing of an outstanding drug charge against a defendant Davis knew.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jerry Rushing.
