Deputies said they were contacted by the Amite County Sheriff's Office that Lightfoot had allegedly kidnapped a woman in Mississippi earlier that morning. Investigators believed the victim was in danger and that Lightfoot was taking her to his home.

Detectives with SMPSO said they later learned the victim was receiving treatment at Franklin Foundation Hospital. The victim's condition is unknown. Detectives went to the hospital, where they found the woman's car, which they believed Lightfoot had used to kidnap her.

According to reports, a detective spotted Lightfoot walk out of the hospital, get into the car and drive off, ignoring orders by the deputy to stop. Officials said the detective followed Lightfoot, who reportedly eventually stopped and jumped out of the car.

Investigators reported the detective continued to chase Lightfoot to an apartment complex. Other deputies arrived on the scene, set up a perimeter and placed two nearby schools on lockdown as a precaution. The schools placed on lockdown were Lagrange Elementary and Patterson Junior High.

Officials said Lightfoot was found hiding under a bed in an apartment and was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
