Ole Miss head football coach Hugh Freeze released a statement on Monday announcing that 6-foot05, 309 pound Austin Golson will transfer to Auburn to be closer to his family and is choosing to walk on with the Tigers following normal transfer rules.
The sophomore offensive lineman was part of the Rebels' outstanding 2013 recruiting class that included defensive end Robert Nkemdiche, offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, safety Tony Connor and receiver Laquon Treadwell.
He was projected to be the Rebels' starting right tackle this fall after playing in 12 games last season.
The Prattville, Alabama native said last month he was considering a transfer because he wanted to be closer to home.
