Armed robbery suspect appears before judge

MADISON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A man arrested this weekend in connection with the armed robbery of a Madison couple had his initial court appearance Monday. Harvea Motallebi was officially charged during teleconferencing court proceedings in Madison Municipal Court.

The 22 year old faces two counts of armed robbery. Motallebi was arrested Saturday by Madison police and Hinds County deputies at Woodrow Wilson and Bailey Avenue in Jackson. He is accused of being in a trio of men who entered the gated Cypress Lake subdivision and robbed a couple at their home on May 5th.

"Mr. Montallebi was later identified by one of the victims of the armed robbery as one of three individuals that held both the male and female victim at gunpoint," said Madison Police investigator Dexter Mangum.

Motallebi was the second man arrested in the case. Twenty two year old Deodriquez Williams was taken into custody last week as an accomplice.  His bond is set at $1.3 million.

Montallebi is being held at the Madison County Detention Center.
