Tornado Warning issued for Lorain and Erie counties - WLOX.com - The News for South Mississippi

Tornado warnings expire, thunderstorm and flash flood warnings remain in effect

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

UPDATE: Severe thunderstorms continue to develop in areas surrounding Cleveland. Heavy rain from these storms has caused flooding.

Severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings have been issued in Lorain, Cuyahoga, Medina, Summit, Stark, Portage, Mahoning, Trumbull and Wayne Counties. 

Some areas are also reporting large hail and strong winds.

The flash flood warnings for Trumbull, Mahoning and Portage are in effect until 6:00 a.m.

TORNADO WARNINGS by the National Weather Service for Central Lorain, Cuyahoga, Summit and Medina Counties have all expired.

At one time, the following counties and cities were affected:

  • Western Cuyahoga County
  • Northern Lorain 
  • Middleburg Heights
  • North Olmsted
  • Brook Park
  • Strongsville
  • Bay Village
  • Berea
  • Columbia Station

It remains in effect until 8:30 p.m.

A TORNADO WARNING for Medina and Summit Counties is in effect until 8:45 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Lorain, SE Erie, NE Huron, and Western Medina County until 9:15.

Meantime there is an area Flood Warning for Cuyahoga, Lorain, and Medina County until 2:15 a.m. Tuesday.

The National Weather Service has CANCELLED its TORNADO WARNING for Lorain and Erie Counties. It was in effect until 7:45 p.m.

Seek shelter until the warning is over and tune to 19 Action News for the latest details on the storm.
