WEST BLOCTON, AL (WBRC) -

West Blocton Police say that the suspect who confessed to killing his roommate in Atlanta and dumping the body in West Blocton had a personal tie to the area.

West Blocton Police Chief Keith Whatley says Teon Graham grew up in the area where he allegedly dumped his roommate's body.

Whatley says Graham was raised in West Blocton for a time while in foster care. His foster mother owned the building that was once the Continental Club. Authorities searched the area behind that building after Graham was arrested in Houma, Louisiana.

Graham told authorities there that he had killed his roommate, Tion Casterman, in Atlanta, stole Casterman's car and then dumped his body in a ravine behind the former club on his way to Louisiana.

Deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Department in Louisiana received a tip that Graham was at an apartment in Houma. Graham remains in custody on an outstanding theft warrant and will be extradited to Alabama and Georgia later this month.
